Computer Use

Logging onto Byron Public Library Districts computers requires the users library card. Patrons having more than $10.00 in fines are not allowed to use the computers until the fine is paid. Residents of other communities may use their local library cards to use Byrons computers after stopping by the front desk to check the status of their card. If you are not from Illinois, a guest pass will be provided with proof of identification.

Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian read and sign a Computer Users Agreement in person. This is a one-time form that will be valid until the child turns 18. Computers can be used for 60 minutes a day. If there is no one waiting for a computer, an additional 30 minutes can be requested from a librarian. All printing and saving of files must be completed within the patrons time slot or all information will be lost. Library staff is not responsible for monitoring children’s use of the Internet. Parents or legal guardians are encouraged to discuss with their children issues of appropriate use and information safety in regard to the Internet. Patrons may not store work on the hard drive.

The cost to print from the computers is $0.10 per page for black-and-white, and $0.25 per page for color prints. Violations of the Byron Public Library District Computer Use Policy may result in suspension of all computer privileges for a period of three months.
